Hi. Any suggestions for a private or semi private transfer for 2 people from Sorrento to Lecce (Pulgia) in Sept 2024? I'm getting pricing of 1000 Euro for private transfer. Does this sound right? Public transportation is not an option.

It is a five-hour drive, so I imagine several hundred to 1000 would be the norm.
Can you break up the trip somehow? Is driving also off the table?

The price of an airport transfer from Sorrento to Rome Fiumicino airport is at least 450€ and the distance is about 280km, or 175 miles, (3h drive).
From Sorrento to Lecce it's easily 5 to 6 hours drive (about 450km or 280 miles), plus pit stops, so I wouldn't be surprised if you are quoted that amount.

Can you explain why public transport is it an option? Not meaning to pry, but it would help people to help you if we knew the issue.
