Can anyone offer me advice to the quickest and "easiest" transfer from Florence to the town of Amafli. There are 4 of us travelers and we are not renting a car.

Train to Salerno then ferry to Amalfi , or Taxi or hired car and driver from Salerno.

There are some high-speed Trenitalia trains from Florence (Firenze SMN) to Salerno that require no changes. A check of a random date in September shows direct departures at 8:13, 10:29, 12:13 and 4 more late afternoon between 16:29 and 18:13. Italo (a private company also runs high-speed trains) shows direct departures at 10:37, 12:17, 15:57 plus some later trains. One of those direct trains would be the "easiest" way to get to Salerno, and all take between 3.5 and 4.0 hours.
In addition to the transport mentioned above, there's also regular bus service from Salerno to the town of Amalfi. It's less expensive than the other options but, if "easiest" is your primary requirement and the higher expense is not a problem, then taxi or private shuttle may be your "easiest" option.
