Transfer from FCO to Hotel Dharma Style

After arriving on the overnight from the US, we are looking for a reliable transfer to our hotel, Dharma Style. While we are not intimidated by public transportation, we would like to avoid that after the overnight flight. Any recommendations?

Taxi is 55 euros flat rate
Go to the official taxi line in front of terminal
Have the hotel address on a slip of paper, hand it to the driver
Confirm that the credit card machine is working or have 55 euros cash ready
No tip required

Although we have never had any problems with Rome taxi drivers, it is always smart to ask about the credit card machine and second I would have enough cash to cover. Also if using cash count each bill as you hand it to him. There are constant rumors that some times a 20 euro note will just magically change to a 10 euro note. Never happened to us but it is rumor I am willing to believe.

As Frank stated the rumors are true. Although I have never had a twenty 20 euro note change to a 10, I have had a 50 euro note magically change to a 10. Another option for a transfer is Welcome Pickup. It is a taxi, but it is all prearranged. The driver (you will have a name/ picture of the person) will meet you on arrival. They will speak English, the cars are clean and communication is very good. Your card is charged once the transfer is complete. We have used them in Athens and will use them again.

Thank you to all for your helpful replies. My next question is, is there a bank ATM in the airport terminal to get euros upon arrival?

We used a company called Welcome Pickups for a late night transfer from FCO a couple of years ago. You can easily find them online. They will quote you the cost right away and line up a driver that meets you at arrivals. They will also track your flight when you enter the info. We found them to be safe, reasonable and very reliable. We used the same company for a later arrival in Bucharest last year. Also a positive experience.

I recommend getting a small amount of euros before you leave the US

Eliminates the stress of finding an ATM, hoping that it works , etc

You won’t need much cash while in Italy -just for small purchases maybe
Everything is tap and pay now
Won’t cost much to get before you leave home
$100 worth or so should be more than enough
