In Sept., I will be traveling from NYC to Florence, Italy. Since there are no direct flights, I have to fly to Rome and transfer to a domestic flight. I am booked through on ITA both flights; no checked luggage. Airlines only allows about 1 1/2 hrs between flights. I'm concerned that that won't be enough time. Do I have to go through customs before getting to domestic flight? Do travelers booked on ITA get any kind of special routing to continuing flight? TIA for your thoughts.
You will go thru Passport Control/Immigration in Rome
Customs in Florence (basically just walk thru a door)
With both flights in ITA (assuming 1 ticket) and no checked luggage you should be fine as long as flight is in time
ITA is responsible for getting you to Florence if you somehow miss the connection
Alternate plan-take the fast train
