Tranportation from Venice Marco Polo to Rialto Bridge

Hello, I'm looking for advice on the best (price/time) way to travel to/from Venice's Marco Polo Airport. I will be staying near Rialto Bridge arriving on Saturday afternoon and leaving early (9am flight) on Monday. I find the $100 euro price for private limo transport very expensive. Seems that the best option may be a bus to Tronchetto then water taxi to Rialto. Can anyone share their experience? Thank you!

You could do that. Or do Alilaguna Line A. http://www.alilaguna.it/ Do you have the RS Venice or Italy book for 2011? He covers these sorts of questions (and you'll probably have more). Good luck and Happy Travels. Venice is stunningly beautiful.

Take the Alilaguna Water Bus (follow the signs) o/a Euro 13. 60 to 90 min with a route that stops at the Rialto. There are several routes so make sure you convey to the ticket seller what line you need although it's pretty clear looking at the chart which line, red, green, orange etc. goes to the Rialto stop. We use the ticket machine ourselves - pretty straightforward, takes Euros, Visa etc. With a 0900 departure you probably need to use a high speed water taxi but e-mail your hotel. They will have the best options for you (docks, departure times etc.) FYI this is NOT an airport you want to get to "just in time". Boats of all types start leaving for the airport as early as 4 a.m. And last, but not least, I highly recommend getting a streetwise map of Venice. (www.streetwise.com) You will not believe how turned around you can get. Pass it off to someone at the airport when leaving for a good deed if you like. Happy travels and you WILL have a great time.

As a side note, the term "water taxi" refers to the 100E private ride. The vaporettos on the canals are water buses. The Alilaguna boat is a good solution. It just takes 54 minutes to get to Rialto. An alternate solution is the bus from the airport to the Piazzale Roma where you pick up the #1 or #2 vaporetto to Lido and get off at the Rialto stop. About 20 minutes on the bus and 19 minutes on the vaporetto. You need tickets for both. Also, a 9:00am flight out of VCE is not bad. It's the 6:40am or 7:15am flights that are painful. The two bus lines from the Piazzale Roma to the airport begin running about 5:00am. You can easily take the vaporetto from Rialto to the Piazzale Roma and jump on one of the airport buses that run frequently. If you are at the airport by 7:00am, you are fine.
