Tram in Rome

Wondering if anyone has experience with trams in Rome. We are staying near the Pantheon and want to go to Trastevere one evening. Google maps shows a 20 minute walk (not too difficult) but then I started noticing a Tram going that way. Doable? Certainly don't mind walking a bit to get to a tram station. Looking forward to thoughts!

The tram number 8 goes to Trastevere. I use it often to visit relatives in Trastevere. You can catch it at Largo Arenula, very near the Pantheon or from Piazza Venezia. It's a short tram ride, because the area of Trastevere you are likely to visit is just across the river. So half distance is a walk, the other half is by tram.

We usually stay in the Trastevere and walk to Piazza Navona and the Pantheon, but the Tram is an option. As Roberto mentioned, it will save you a little, but not much walking, probably more of an option on return than getting there. If your are going deeper into the Trastevere, near Trastevere Station, then the Tram is a must, but most of the restaurants and sights are just across the river.

It's a nice walk and Rome is so interesting that I would suggest doing that. Plot out two different ways, so you can see different sights along the way.

Thanks everyone. Probably will walk, have tram idea in mind, if needed.
