I keep getting this error message after I go through the entire process of choosing a train, etc.
Error Code: 291 Any one of the data entered is not valid
Does anyone know why this happens? I'm not traveling until June 23rd.....is it too early to book?
Hi there, I think that you are able to buy tickets for that date now. Keep in mind that you can not buy regional tickets on the web site till about 7 days prior. I was able to go on Tranitalia today and get my ticket from Roma to Firenze today, for July 11. Had absolutely no problem, but I had registered on the web site 2 years ago, and had a password etc. I think that if you check the box for non-register, you should have no problems. Your problem may be the issue regarding regional trains. Just check that out and hope that this helps. Express train tickets can be purchased 4 months out.
I'm trying to book a train from Rome to Naples, so I don't think that would be considered Regional. I tried to proceed without registering, but I keep getting the code above.
Maybe this was the issue and maybe it will help someone else. I was putting my phone number in, but leaving out the International Code. This morning, everything went right through. Either the website wasn't working last night, or I needed to put my phone number in the proper sequence. 001(area code)(phone number)

I had a similar problem last week and just gave up and went to italiarail and got them there.
You are supposed to choose "Non sono registrato" (or something....). I did that and it still didn't work.
Someone suggested not filling out data for all persons (only put it for the lead passenger) and said that worked for her. I didn't get to try it since I had already given up.
