Trains to Cinque Terra

I am planning on traveling by train from Nice to Monterosso in Cinque Terra in October. What train station or name should I use to make a reservation online for that area? Neither Cinque Terrra or Monterosso show up as a station.

No, Cinque Terre doesn't show because it's a region and not a town. Monterosso Is a town and has a station.
What website are you using?

I wouldn't buy ahead. That trip is likely in whole, or large part, on Regional trains and there is no advantage to buy those ahead of time. Even if you travel partially on an Intercity train, buying ahead can only save you so much and discounted tickets are very restrictive, you can't make changes or get refunds in case of changed travel plans.
I would buy when you go.

The station names are:
MONTEROSSO
VERNAZZA
CORNIGLIA
MANAROLA
RIOMAGGIORE
Monterosso is the biggest village so some Intercity trains from Genova stop there as well.
The trip from Nice Ville to Monterosso will likely require 2 changes: Ventimiglia and Genova.
Genova has two main stations: Piazza Principe and Brignole (from West to East). All trains stop in both.

Thanks so much for all the details! I thought there might be a TGV train available for a part of the trip, but will use your info to help us when we travel there.

Cinque Terre is a region, it translates as "five lands". The five towns are: Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore and each has a station. You need to pick one to go to, and enter that name in full.

Possible Problem 1: Where are you looking? I hope you are looking on the Trenitalia site. But, that only shows trains within, to or from Italy. If your journey involves changing trains at or before the French border, the French train may not show. If so, try: trainline.eu

Possible problem 2: Italian train timetables change in early June. If you are loolking after that, the timetables may not be loaded yet. Try for a date in May to see what is possible, the times will probably not change much.

Agreed that you can just buy these tickets in Nice Ville station. To see train schedules when they are published, as opposed to when different legs actually go on sale through each national railway, the DB link at Looking Up Train Schedules and Routes Online works for all of Europe.
