Will be flying into Milan and would like to visit a small town of Frassene to trace family roots, near Fonzaso, but have been unable to find a train or bus schedule - can anyone help. Will be in Italy for two weeks and would love to visit Varenna, Venice, (Frassene), Florence, Lucca and Milan but not sure if we can fit it all in using the trains. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Sandy the closet train station is in Feltre. It is about 10 km from Fonzaso. There is bus service to Fonzaso, but only 2 or three busses, a couple early and one in the afternoon. My grandparents were from fonzaso. We usually rent a car in Venice. the drive is not bad and the scenery great. My suggestion would be to visit Venice and then when you are leaving rent the car for your trip north. Return the car and then continue on your trip. The other parts of your trip are well served by rail.
