Trains, museums, performances - Print tickets or show phone?

Our trip is a couple of months away and as I stack up the reservations and ticket purchases I started to wonder which was preferred and or accepted - showing tickets with bar codes/QR codes from your phone or printing things out. While I will likely print everything I can out before we leave, just to have back-ups, I imagine there might be a few things we book while on the go and since we are mostly staying in AirBnBs and B&Bs, I don't know that we'll always have easy access to a printer. Am I over thinking this?

For our trip in May we had everything printed and organized in a nice folder. Which we left on the counter… Luckily I had archived all the emails on my phone so we ended up doing everything off my phone and it worked fine for museums and churches in Florence, Rome, and Siena. Also for ferries.

You can take screen shots of the tickets and barcodes, eliminating the need for having the cell data feature turned on to access the tickets.
Safe travels!

I added ours to “Notes” on my iphone. My wife did the same in case my phone failed.

I'm with bobbo22. I printed everything out (I want to touch the tickets and know they're real!) but often just showed our phone.

At 80 and an accountant, I am really old school. Back up paper. We have everything on the iphone and ipad plus all paper. Now my iphone has always worked but ... still ..... I like back up.

I make paper copies, but I also take screen shots of every single document, ticket and booking form.
That way you don’t need to worry about using up data or needing wifi to show your docs on a screen to anyone, or to be scanned.

I printed everything, and its in a folder, but I have our itinerary in a Microsoft Word doc, with links to all of our tours, tickets, confirmations, even dinner reservations. So if I leave the folder on the counter, we'll be OK.

I use a combination of paper and apps (when booking on the go) to show tickets or reservations. I download tickets to my phone using my hotel or the ubiquitous Starbucks cafe location WiFi.

I print everything out. However, I also place it all in google drive and make it available offline. Then you dont need to have internet to see the documents.

Thank you all! 🙂 I feel better knowing that having back-ups is wise (and my plan) but that if we end up purchasing app-based tickets on the go we'll probably be fine flashing our phone. You're the best!

I print everything as back up. I save my tickets in my iBooks.
