TRAINS in Italy

We are taking trains from city to city - should we reserve our tickets in advance?

You didn't say when you were going but my advice to you is to buy them the day you are travelling. It's not summer anymore and it should be less crowded as schools are back in session and you'll find less people travelling.

Hi Rebecca. Between major cities, you can buy up to 90 days in advance for big discounts if you are willing to lock in an exact date and time. Or you can easily wait and buy tickets when there, but you will then pay full price. Try trenitalia.com (use italian speeling for city names) or italiarail.com. Enjoy your trip!

The ONLY reason to purchase in advance is to take advantage of discounts. Train are rarely if ever sold out

If your travel dates and times are set then you might want to buy in advance to take advantage of the huge savings. If they are questionable then just wait until the day of travel and buy full price tickets. Donna

Thanks to all! I think we'll wait till the day of or the day before to buy tickets - just in case we need to change up the time.
