Trains from Venice to Sarzana italy

Hi.. need some help in figuring train routes to Sarzana.. I think we can go through Florence. But thought it might be a more picturesque ride through Milan..or?? Not sure what to do or what makes the most sense!!

The route through Milan takes a lot longer. 7 hours vs 4 1/2 hours through Florence. Looks like going through Florence will cost less too. I don't know if the scenery is worth it. I seem to recall that Genoa to Sarzana is a whole lot of tunnels.
