Trains from MIlan to Genoa and then Camogli (Cinque Terre)

I'm going from Milan to Genoa this Friday and then on Monday the 17th from Genoa to Camogli and Cinque Terre. Any suggestions for how best to navigate the system?

Thanks.

Easy - lots of trains. I think they are all Trenitalia in this region. I traveled from Venice to Camogli last May by train via Milan and Genoa (all in the same day though). I came back to Genoa by train a few days later just for a few hours to wander around.

Try the Trenitalia website:

You can take regional trains all the way if you want to. I did. The advantage is: no need to purchase tickets in advance. (no reserved seats, trains can't sell out). But the IC train from Milan to Genoa is surely faster - but probably more expensive now near the last minute. Decide for yourself on the Trenitalia website what you want.

Figure out which Genoa train station is closest to your lodgings there - probably one of the two main ones, Piazza Principe or Brignole. I think you can get from Brignole directly to Camogli - I forget now.

The walk from the tiny Camogli train station into town is quick. It's such a lovely town - I adored it!

If you want to day trip to the Cinque Terre, as I recall there's an early direct train from Camogli around 8am or so. Otherwise you may need a connection somewhere.

Don't be surprised to find delays on trains in the riviera.
