Hi fellow travelers --
I had written recently about taking the train from Bologna to Varenna. Questions: Is there a direct train, either "fast" or otherwise to Varenna? I could only see a change of trains Bologna-Milan/ Milan-Varenna, and the time between arriving in Milan and departing to Varenna is just 20 minutes. Is that enough time to find and board the second train?
Thank you so much. We are seasoned travelers -- just a carry on suitcase and backpacks.

As you saw, only Freccia to Milan, change to Regionale Trenord to go to Varenna. Yes, 20 minutes is enough but don’t dawdle. If you download the trenitalia app, you can see which track you will arrive at and depart from in Milan. The app is extremely helpful.
