Anyone have experience taking public transportation from Catania to Syracusa. We land in Catania around 5:00pm and wondering about public transportation or whether we need to rent a car or hire a driver. TIA.

We took the bus directly from Catania Airport to Siracusa a few years ago, that worked well for us. We walked the last little bit on Ortygia to our hotel.

This past spring, we took the bus from the stop near the Catania cathedral to Siracusa. It was a nice comfortable ride. This same bus stopped at the Catania airport to pick up passengers. Couldn't have been easier. It was about a mile walk from the bus stop to Ortigia. I would think it would be easy to catch a cab if the walk wasn't doable for you.
