Trains and itinerary suggestions northern Italy

Thank you for the help you have given already!! Our travel itinerary is starting to fall into place but I am still confused (after many hours on this site and the internet/travel books) about what to do about getting around and have some specific questions about our itinerary. My friend and I have this itinerary:
Land in Florence (July 27) and spend 4 days. Have place from airbnb booked.

Cinque Terre two nights (July 30 - Aug 1)
To Switzerland ....free days, don't know where we'll go but thought to leave it open as we could spend another day in CT and leave in the evening or leave in morn (?) and go north. We have 8/1 - 8/2 unplanned but need to be at our meditation camp on 8/3 which is near Olivone (north of Biasca Switzerland) so want to go up that way. Thought about Lake Como or maybe some great hiking area in north Italy, Southern Switzerland ??? Any suggestions are welcome. Maybe we can wait and find a hotel later or should we book.
Camp ends and we get to Rome on 8/10 until 8/14. Will book hotel soon...after searching and reading what others say I am thinking of getting an airbnb place in Piazza Navona area or Prati district. Sound good? We fly out of Rome.
Question about the train: We need transportation (train?) from airport to Florence, Florence to La Spezia (and then get a train/trail pass in la spezia?), CT to beautiful place we go north of CT, beautiful place to Olivone, Olivone to Rome and then getting around Rome. I'm thinking a saver pass won't be worth it (?) but we'd be better off getting all the train tickets separately because we'd want to take some fast trains. Is this decision agreed? Should we book other tickets ahead if we know when we're going-like Olivone - Rome? Though I know the trains in Switzerland are reported to be more expensive so maybe pass would be worth it ?? And if we get the pass before Mar 31 we can still get a 3 country pass (though we'd only go in 2 countries). Though I see that some fast trains will not be included in the pass (or maybe it's just an extra cost?)
And the last question....maybe I should trot on down to RS travel center (I live close!) and pay for a consultation to have someone help book train tickets for us. Do they do that? and what would be the best time to do that as I read some tickets you have to schedule 90 days before you want to go...though pass changes to 4 countries after Mar 31 (and I assume price will be higher).
