Trainline.eu

I have I checked trainline.eu for tickets in June. They show tickets available when other sites don’t. We are going from Cinque Terra to Venice. How can they show tickets available when the Italian train companies are not posting their schedules yet for June?

What specific day? I am not seeing that as the case for June schedules on http://www.trenitalia.com/
And Cinque Terre is not a train stop you can use to start a search to go to Venice if that is what you are trying to do.

There will be a schedule change on 10 June, so not all third party ticket sellers may have current information posted. The most reliable source of information will be the Trenitalia site, but if Trainline shows tickets available then you should be able to buy now.

The trip from the C.T. to Venice typically follows two routes, either through Milan or through Florence. Which departure from Monterosso are you considering?

19th June is after the bi-annual timetable change on 10th June. Not all times after that date are fixed, and hence not listed on the Trenitalia site. The long distance and High speed trains are listed, but not yet the local ones (Regionale). It is 90% certain the regionale trains will be at the same time as currently
Monterosso to Venezia S. Lucia is a Regionale for the first leg (flat fare, no reserved seats), and a high speed train thereafter (discounts for advance purchase, reserved seats)

What Trainline are doing is reserving the high speed train and selling you a ticket for both without knowing the exact times for the regionale. There have been reports before of other resellers taking money for tickets not yet released, and sitting on your money until the railway company releases the tickets.

OK, weird. I just ran it again (on Trenitalia) and this second time it's coming up with only one train showing. Spooks in the machine....

Kathy, that one train is, if you look, an Intercity. Looks like Monterosso has one intercity a day, and the rest are Regionale, which are not yet listed.

Yeah, I know, Chris. It's just weird that it showed all sorts of trains on the first search and now it doesn't. And I checked the date TWICE that first time! O well, deleted my previous post!

I just ran it again and only see 3 trains available. Don’t want to get in at 11pm. The train that gets in the afternoon is not available. Not sure where your seeing multiple trains. Searching Monterosso not Monterooso Marche.

Check the time of day you're searching for. It is probably defaulting to a time after the current time here in the US. Change it to something like 7 AM.

I searched and the box next to the date I put 0 no times. Still came up with the same three trains heading to Venice. The one I’m looking for still says unavailable. I searched on the Trenitalia site. I think they just haven’t released the full schedule yet.
