So has anybody bought tickets on your iphone while in Italy? It looks like the Trainline app sells both Frecciarossa and Italio tickets side by side comparison. I have used them before when I bought last year TGV but I purchased stateside. So, I can land in Rome after my all night flight and use that app at the airport to buy a ticket to train to termini and Termini to Naples in one fell swoop after I clear customs and have the time and price comparisons in one app? And after looking at seat61.com I would like your opinion about what class to buy since it will have been a long day and night for us. Doesn’t seem to be a ton of difference for this short trip except no leather seats on trenitalia cheapest section. (Except I haven’t researched about the fast lane option -thoughts ?) I want to wait until I am there to buy in case of flight or customs delay. I don’t mind paying a little more if you think the upgrade section is worth it on a long travel night and day. I do like to sit facing the way the train is going; facing backwards is not good for me. This will be end of sept on early Monday am one way. Anyone used the Trainline app in country ? It seems more user friendly than Trenitalia and does give both trenitalia and italio but you might know something I don’t. Probably. Actually most likely. Uhhh definitely so :)
callen,
I have the Trainline app, but can't remember if I've used it while travelling. All of the Trainline services are generally "user friendly" so I wouldn't expect the App to be any different.
I haven't used the Trainline app to buy tickets, but I have used the Trenit app to buy Trenitalia tickets while in Italy. When I was there, I think there were no Italo trains on the routes I was taking - just Trenitalia trains.
I tried the Trainline, but found Italrail far easier. I also liked that there was a chat option. There is a service fee of about 3 euros which they refund . No app - just the website.
