Has anyone taken the train from Venice to Salzburg? Any idea how much it is and how long it takes

We did the opposite - Salzburg to Venice - took a night train, think it left around 12:30 am arriving around 7:30 am (this was 2010, so my memory is a little foggy/tired brain fr not much sleep)...but I think you can count on 7-8hrs

RailEurope.com says that you can take a bus or train to Villach, Austria where you transfer to a train that goes to Salzburg. It's about a 7 hour trip on either the bus or train. Another train goes to Innsbruck in the early afternoon, where you transfer trains to Salzburg. It's about a 7 1/2 hour trip. Salzburg's a great place.
