I will end my travels near Venice and will fly home from Rome. I plan to take the train. Will I need a combination of the regional train and the quick train? My hope is to arrive in Rome around noon or early afternoon, so that I'll have some time to walk around before dinner, a good night's sleep and my flight the following day. I DO want as much time in Rome as possible. Thanks.
There are several fast trains per day from Venice to arome, takes about four hours.
Where can I find the train schedules on-line? Thanks.
www.trenitalia.com is the Italian Train website. First time in Europe?
In Great Britain a couple of times, but that was long ago and this is my first trip to Italy, which I have wanted to visit ever since I saw the funeral of Pope John Paul I (yes, the first) so many years ago.
New timetables go into effect on 9 June. Here are the first two direct high-speed trains: Leave Venezia Santa Lucia at 06:13 and arrive at Roma Termini at 09:30. Leave Venezia Santa Lucia at 08:35 and arrive at Roma Termini at 12:20.
Ah, the 8:35 am one will be ideal. Thank you so much. K
