train travel in italy

Our family of 5 adults are planning 3 train trips within Italy. rome to venice, venice to florence, and florence to rome within 12 days. Should we purchase the Eurail Italy Pass or just book seperate trains. Also how should we book them, through select Italy or Trenatalia?? Pros and cons on each??

Trenitalia.com will give you the best prices. Select Italy takes a markup fee, and railpasses in Italy are almost never the most economical solution. You can default to English on Trenitalia, but you need to enter city names in Italian: Roma for Rome (you'll have a choice of stations, try Roma Termini), Firenze Santa Maria Novella for Florence, and Venezia Santa Lucia for Venice.
