Train travel from Viareggio

We have a train connection at Viareggio to go to Monterosso. I have our tickets already and 2 suitcases

Can anyone tell me what this station is like at Viareggio? Small easy to find next train? Number of platforms? Do we need to validate our tickets?? Ticket reads IC and not RE(regional)

Does your ticket list a date of travel and an assignment of a car and seat? I assume it does so it does not need to be validated since it is only good at that time on that train - no other. If was an open ticket - no seat assignment or car number - then it has to be validated (time stamp) to make it a valid ticket for that train. Only the Regionale train tickets are unreserved.

Once off the train look for a departure board near the tracks. Know the train number of your next train (on the ticket), find the number and it will show the track IF the train departure is within 15 to 30 minutes. If long it may not be on the board until closer to departure time.

Does the ticket list which train it is valid on (date, train ID, time, coach and seat numbers)? If yes, it is only valid on that train and doesn't need stamping.
If no, it needs stamping (validating) to stop you using it twice.

Chris, since she has tickets in hand sugests that she bought tickets on line and all on-line tickets even Regionale trains are validated. Cannot shove a piece of paper into the validation machine.

We have a train connection at Viareggio to go to Monterosso.

Does this mean you are coming from somewhere else and changing trains at Viareggio, or starting your journey at Viareggio? What time is the train?

The station at Viareggio has 8 platforms. Platforms #5 to #8 are for trains to/from Lucca and Florence. Northbound trains (direction La Spezia and Genova) ordinarily call at platform #3, southbound trains (Pisa, Livorno, Rome) at platform #4. Platforms #1 and #2 are used by northbound/southbound trains that are to be overtaken by another train in their direction.
