Train travel from Munich to Lake Como and Milan

Hello!
Our family of 3 ( all adults) plan a trip end of May 2024. The first 2 weeks will be Belgium and Bavaria. From Munich I need your suggestion where to go first, Milan or Lake Como? I understand by train will be 7 or more hours to Milan, and going to Como will pretty much occupy whole day. We want to stay in Como 5 nights. From there we want to go to Milan 3-4 nights. From Milan we fly out to Santorini. My question: should we go to Milan first( so we don’t spend whole day travelling) . My concern doing this is if we go to Como later, we might get stressed going back to Milan to catch our flight to Santorini. I need you suggestion please. Thank you.

Your flight departure city should always be the last destination of your itinerary.
Be aware that if you fly out of Milan Malpensa airport, the airport is quite a distance from the city, and even more distant from lake Como.
If you fly out of Bergamo (BGY), then Varenna on the lake is closer to the airport than Milan.
Three nights should be sufficient to see Milan.
I don't like the city of Como too much. I would stay in the midlake area. Varenna is a short 70 min train journey from Milan. Alternatively, either Menaggio or Bellagio are very easily reachable from Varenna via ferry (less than 10 min across the lake from Varenna). Three or four nights on the lake would be nice and relaxing.

Thank you for your reply. The reason I am choosing Como as our base is accommodations are cheaper here (I.e. Air B&B) And at same time we can still visit the 3 towns you mentioned during our 4 nights stay.
