Train travel from Cinque Terre to Venice?

Researching travel to Venice from Vernazza.
What are the best options to get to Venice before 1pm without leaving the CT prior to 5 am?
What route is best? What is the best train station to leave from?
Thank you in advance!

Explore your options on the Trenitalia (National rail system of Italy) website.

You'll be leaving from Vernazza train station, and you'll want to arrive in Venice at Venezia S. Lucia station. Choosing a random date of next Monday and discarding 5:00 departures:

There's a train which leaves Vernazza at 6:26 and arrives at 11:35 with 3 train changes.

There is another which leaves Vernazza at 7:14 and arrives at 12:20 with 3 train changes.

Obviously the one in the town where you are staying, apparently Vernazza.

There are 2 routes to choose from. One north through Genoa to Milan, then to Venice. The other east through La Spezia to Florence, then to Venice.

Pick the route based on price and schedule and convenience. Often the north route is more convenient with only 2 train changes, at Monterosso or Sestri Levante to an IC train to Milan, then a Freccia train to Venice. The east route often requires 3 changes, at La Spezia, Pisa, and Florence.

Use http://www.trenitalia.com/tcom-en to find the schedule you like. If you are traveling after June 9, there is a nation wide schedule change, and you will not see anything. The schedules usually don't change that much, so use a date before that for the same day of the week you plan to travel. Use "Venezia S. Lucia" as the destination.

Just curious why you have to be in Venice by 1pm. Is it for a cruise or plane. When we were in Cinque Terre ( a number of years ago) the trains went on strike for the day. At that time we were told it was a fairly common occurance. I would not have wanted to count on every connection if I had a cruise to catch.

Lisa makes a very good point; there's a difference between WANTING to be in Venice before 1:00 and HAVING to be there. Care to enlighten us?

Thank you for the responses...yes, obviously I knew we’d leave from Vernazza. Was looking for the best route to go based on other’s experiences. (we usually rent cars on our travels abroad) We do not need to be in Venice by 1pm-just wanted to be. We viewed options on the train website & believe we have it figured out. Thank you all!
