Train Travel

I am trying to figure out some train routes, times, and dates to get an idea of costs; however, the website Trenitalia, is stating the stations (Genoa Piazza Principe and Camogli-S. Fruttuoso) are not valid. In addition the time I inquired about for example leave at 10am return at 8 pm are also invalid. I must be doing something wrong, because there are trains that go there and return. I was also wondering why it states Adult tickets and boys ticket and then to press near? Please advice, thanks!

When are you looking for? If too far in advance, trains may not be loaded.
Have you tried using Trainline or looking for info on Man at Seat 61?

with Trenitalia you need to spell in Italian. Genoa is English. Try Genova

Download the easy to use Trenitalia app or use trenitalia.com official website. The trains listed for that route are Regionale and current schedules should apply no matter how far out you’re searching.

Currently showing outbound trains at 9:11, 10:11, 10:39. Return at 22:13 or 22:50.

It might help to enter Genova and choose the Genove (Tutte Le Stazioni) option. That will display all of the stations for Genoa, and you can see if a route isn’t going to your particular train station. Pick a date for next week to see if what you’re wanting is a route that runs.

When you want to purchase tickets, and the dates are close enough that they are loaded & available, the Trenitalia App is very handy. You will see people standing in line at stations or at the ticket machines, and you can bypass all of that. Just be sure to purchase your ticket at least 5 minutes before the train leaves because it won’t be available in that 5-minutes before window.

Sometimes English translations of European websites can produce results that seem odd. Sometimes the original word has two quite different meanings. In this case, "Cerca" in Italian can be either "Search" or "Near". The machine translation has chosen the wrong option. The "Near" button is really the "Search" button.
