Is there a train that goes from the Venice airport to Verona? I'm guessing that if there is, it will probably necessitate making connections. If there isn't a train at the airport, is a taxi ride from the airport to,the train an option? Thank you!
No train from Venice Marco Polo airport. You can take a train from Mestre train station to Verona and take an ATVO express bus from Mestre to Marco Polo. [edited - had it backwards.]
From VCE take either the ATVO fly bus to Venezia Mestre. Or the ACTV bus # 4, 15, or 45.
From Venezia Mestre-Verona,
Fast train takes 58 min. Regional velocity 1H15m
Fast train about 11E more.
Just use the one that fits your schedule. Buy at the train station, if you buy online and your flight is late, it's worthless.
Actually, gerri, if you buy a regional train ticket online and your flight is late...you can take the next regional train. I was in this situation last month (at Mestre) and asked the Trenitalia agent (showing him my online ticket on my phone) and he said I could use it on the next train.
One of the IC trains with reservations? Yes, I'd expect the ticket to be worthless if you miss that train.
If you have a working smart phone, you can buy the Trenitalia ticket with your phone with the Trenit app, once you know you will be able to make a particular train. The Trenitalia ticket machines may not work with chip and signature credit cards - probably only with chip and PIN credit cards or with cash. Or buy from an agent if you have time. You can use credit cards or Paypal with the Trenit app.
Right, Andrew, on the regional tickets purchased online you have 4 hours to board the train.
