My family is traveling from Venice to Vernazza in late June. I cannot seem to schedule train tickets into or out of Vernazza. How can I tell if there is a scheduled problem? I've had success with other cities but can't figure out Vernazza. Alternative ideas for getting there? Been trying on DB Bahn and italotreno.
Just found a tip in the forum from a few days ago suggesting that the schedule may not be updated yet. Little less panic now. Any other ideas and hints are very welcome. And thank you D.B.
That is exactly the problem. Trenitalia has not updated schedules for after June 12. Just check schedule for the next 7 days if you want prices and scheduling. It should change little, if at all.
As Sam said: schedules aren't likely to change much so just check next week's schedule on the Trenitalia (Italy's national rail website) for the day of week (Monday, Tuesday, etc.) you intend to travel in June.

It looks like your journey from Venice will involve a minimum of two train changes.
I agree with the above - if you are just looking at schedules (and not actually purchasing), looking at any random day is likely to help you. Train schedules don't change much from day to day to week to month. I am planning a trip for the fall, and while I cannot purchase anything now, I am using Trenitalia to look up times and lengths of journeys and get a "general" idea of cost for budgeting purposes.
stacy,
As Sam mentioned, the schedules past 12 June have not all been uploaded to the website yet. Not to worry, there will be numerous trains available, and that's a fairly straight forward trip. You can get an idea of the solutions by entering a date within the next week, using the same day-of-the-week that you'll be travelling.
At this point, you should be able to buy tickets from Venezia S. Lucia to Firenze S.M. Novella on the Freccia high speed trains. I'd probably use the departure at 09:25, which arrives in Vernazza at 15:12. That solution uses a Freccia on the first segment and Regionale trains on the final two segments. If you decide to use that one, all you'll need to do now is buy advance tickets for the high speed segment. Buy the Regionale segments at the station in Venice a day or two before you'll be travelling. Note tha you MUST validate the Regionale tickets prior to boarding the train on the day of travel, or risk hefty fines which will be collected on the spot!
