Train Tickets to Orvieto

Does anyone know the best way to buy train tickets to Orvieto after we arrive at FCO? Thanks

Paul,

Two options you could consider.

There are ticket windows at FCO, so you could possibly buy your tickets there at the same time you buy your tickets for the Leonardo Express. You could also wait until you arrive at Termini to buy the tickets (as I recall there are machines as well as full service ticket windows).

You might want to have a look at the bahn.de or trenitalia.it websites to get some idea on departure times for trains to Orvieto.

Happy travels!

From FCO, take the Leonardo Express to Termini in Rome. You can purchase tickets to Orvieto at one of the many self-service kiosks in Termini.

We purchased train tickets to Orvieto the same day we made the trip. The easy ride was about an hour. Just outside the station in Orvieto, you take the funicula up a hill, then a short walk into the center.

Orvieto is a great town and well worth a visit -- the duomo is spectacular.

You can check the train schedules from Rome Termini to Orvieto at http://www.ferroviedellostato.it/ Select the English option, but don't try to buy tickets on-line in advance as there is a huge issue with international credit cards.

Hope this helps.
