Help! Train tickets from Milano Central to MXP? Sold out??

Does the red slash instead of a price on the trenitalia site mean it must be bought at Milano Central? It doesn't mean sold out, does it?

I thought it might be because you can't but the regional tickets on the trentalia site, but then I was doing a search for a side trip tomorrow, and the high speed trains had the same symbol......

If they are sold out, how late do the bussed run from Milano Centrale to MXP?

Try malpensaexpress.it, translate to English with the British flag icon. What day are you trying to book?

For Trenitalia tickets, make sure you are entering the date and time correctly (use the calendar for the date).

Theresa,

The red slash means that tickets are not available for sale online. Either because it's too far out (regional trains can only be purchased within 7 days) or because they must be purchased on site. In the case of the trains to MXP, they are not sold online. These trains run every 15 min. and it's highly unlikely they sell out. There's no need to buy ahead, just get them when you arrive at the station, either at a ticket window or one of the automated machines.

If you hover the mouse over the barred cart you'll discover what it means.

Theresa,

There's no reason to buy a ticket for the Malpensa Express in advance, and No the tickets are not sold out. Simply go to a Kiosk when you arrive at Milano Centrale, punch a few buttons, insert some money or a credit card and you'll have a ticket. I normally buy my ticket the day prior to travel so I don't have to deal with that on travel days, when I'm hauling luggage. DON'T FORGET to validate your ticket prior to boarding the train on the day of travel or you'll get a nasty surprise!

I've flown in and out of Malpensa several times and never had a problem just buying the tickets on the spot at a machine. I can't imagine that a train would be full. If so, just wait 15 min. for the next train.

It is a regional train it does not sell out, correct? You may have to stand, but you will be able to ride.

As Rich notes above, the trains run every 15 minutes but they are not all direct. Direct trains, with no change, run every half hour to/from Centrale (something to consider when dealing with luggage). Also, it appears that you can buy tickets on line at the site Zoe notes.
