Buon Giorno!
I'm looking on the TrenItalia website regarding time schedules for Christmas Eve and no solution is found. I'm sure trains run this day but I'm more concerned about how often. My flight arrives in Malpensa at 8:55am Christmas Eve and I'm hoping to take the shuttle to Terminale and catch a train to Florence. I would prefer not to wait all day in a train station which is why I'm trying to find the time table and try and purchase a ticket early. Anyone have any ideas??
I played around with the Trenitalia website. They only have the time table posted thru 13 Dec. You may have to wait a few more days for them to catch it up to 24 Dec.
On 13 Dec, there are Eurostar trains from Milan to Firenze at 1300 and 1330.
I don't know if Trenitalia will have limited service on 24 December or not. You'll have to wait until they post their new timetables to find out. However, the current timetables show direct trains from Milano Centrale to Firenze departing at 10:00, 11:00, 11:10, 11:50, 12:00--plus the times given by Judy. The 11:10 train arrives at Rifredi. The others arrive at S.M.N.
We traveled from Venice to Florence via train on Christmas Eve last year--buying our tickets at Santa Lucia in Venice upon arrival there--and had no problems. Seemed like 25.12 was a holiday schedule, but 24.12 was a normal day (whatever day of the week it falls on). Checking the right day of week in advance of your trip online should provide the 24.12 schedule for you.
