Going to Rome with a party of 10. 7 Adults and 3 Children ages 14, 10 and 3. Trying to use the TrenItalia website to book tickets for fast train trips from Rome to Venice, Rome to Florence and Pisa, and Rome to Naples and Herculaneum. Website won't allow me to book for a party over 9. Anyone have experience with this? Will I need to do 2 separate bookings? Thanks for any advice.
Found this link on the Trenitalia website about group tickets: https://www.trenitalia.com/en/offers/travelling_in_groups.html
Maybe this will help. Otherwise, booking 2 groups of 5 should work.
The 3 yo is free if it does not take a seat (sits in someone's lap). So try it for 9.
Thank you both for your responses!
Hi -
I know this wasn't your question but it sort of sounds like maybe you're intending on doing all of these as day trips from a base in Rome. Yes? No? If yes, at 4 hours one way from Rome, even on the fastest trains, I don't personally consider Venice a day trip. That's a total of 8 hours not including time to/from the stations: a long day of trains, especially for your youngest. Heck, it would be too long a day for me!
Florence is abt. 96 minutes from Rome so more do-able, but from there to Pisa S. Rossore (the closest station to the Campo dei Miracoli) will add another hour +, and from there back to Rome will be minimum 2 hours, 24 minutes from Pisa S. Rossore with a change at Pisa Centrale (or 2 hours, 18 minutes from Centrale).
There is a LOT to see in Florence, and moving a group of 10 around may be a slow and wearing go if trying to stay together, especially if the trip is in high-season crowds/heat. It'll be wearing as well if needing to try and rush around to sightsee on a compressed timeline because you need to get Pisa in as well.
Apologies if these are not day trips; care to share your detailed itinerary?
