Train ticket reservations??

I am planning a trip from Venice to Vernazza on the trains but I would like to get off the train in Pisa for a few hours. If the seats are reserved can I do this or is it better to book the ticket Venice to Pisa and but another from Pisa to Vernazza?

If it is an open ticket, no reserved seats you book from V to V. However, if reserve seat is required then you will need two tickets.
