train ticket price, same online as at ticket office?

when I look on Trenitalia I see "Standard" ticket 2nd class is 36 Euros from Rome to Florence. Does that price include the mandatory seat reservation fee?
If I wait until I get to Italy and buy ticket at train station, is the ticket price plus seat reservation fee the same as if I bought online? Is there an extra booking fee when done at the train station? Can I do it in person in Rome v.s a ticket machine? If I know the DAY of travel, but not the time, should I wait until I get to Rome to buy ticket? thanks, Elaine

Emit, you can wait until you get to Italy to buy tickets for these popular runs. Note that each Eurostar holds more passengers than a 747 so there's no shortage of seats.

Elaine, actually, it's 36.10Euro. And, yes it is the same as the price at the window in Italy. Yes it does include the seat reservation fee. Nothing extra. However, you most likely won't be able to buy in advance from the Trenitalia website. They seem to have shut out American credit cards (I used to buy online but mine doesn't work any more). It will cost you a few dollars more if you want to buy from Raileurope or Italiarail.

You can easily wait until you get to Italy. The Rome to Florence run is probably the most popular run in Italy. 55 trains a day in each direction. That's 3-4 and hour. Yes you can easily purchase from the self-service machine. Don't worry about missing a train. Very hard to do as your simply early for the next one. Probably more frequent than the Metro in D.C. If you buy as soon as you arrive and not on the day of travel, you can try for the AMICA 20% discount. These are limited discounts that are usually snapped up before the day of travel (you can't buy them on the day of travel). However, there may be some AMICA tickets available a few days before travel.

me and my soon to be wife will be there in late October and were planning on taking a train from Florence to Venice, spend a couple of days there then Venice to Milan. So would it be better to just wait until we're there to get tickets?
