train ticket from rome to florence

hi ya...i need a help to book the train ticket from rome to florence on 28th june 2009. From the trenitalia.com website, i got 2 option, Fare39/AS which means standard fare i suppose (correct me if wrong) and other fares which i think not applicable to me. I am travelling with my another friend, both of us are 23 years old.

The thing is, I can't book more than 1 passanger for the Fare 39/AS. Did anyone have the trouble before? Is it because it left 1 seat in the train? Or the booking is meant to be that way? Please advise...thank you very much

First, are you in Manchester, England, Manchester, New Hampshire, Other? If you are in England, you should be able to purchase tickets on Trenitalia. If you are in the U.S. you can't as U.S. credit cards are not accepted.

Second, you are trying to book a ticket on the Regionale (R) train. The problem is that you cannot book for more than one person under the Fare39/AS arrangement. I've looked at the other train classes and you can book up to five people. The restriction seems to be on the R train.

Next, there are 53 trains a day departing Rome for Florence. Most are high-speed Eurostars. Since you can't reserve seats on the Regionale, buy your tickets when you get there. The ticket is an open ticket and will not have a specific train number on it. Since the train is empty in Rome, you get there a bit early, jump on and take any seat you want. First on, first seated. If seats are full, you can stand. It's just like your local bus.
