Hello everyone!
So as my luck would have it, on our two travel days there are threatened train strikes. September 8 Rome Termini - Verona Itala train. Keeping that and hoping for the best. And then September 11 Verona - Bolzano, then taxi to Ortisei to get to lodging before
strict check in time by 6 pm.
My main question is how stupid and extravagant am I for SERIOUSLY considering a driver for around 450 euros from my hotel in Verona to my already-paid-for-and-very-rigid-rules lodging in Ortisei where we MUST check in no later than 5:30 pm, and if we
"cancel, modify or don't show up, the fee will be the total price of the reservation. (Maybe these very strict rules, which they have their reasonings for i am sure, are why Rick Steves does not seem to steer us toward Ortisei? I don't know.
We are not rich, but when we factor in the entire trip cost, it seems like 300 extra euro (after deducting train Verona - Bolzano then taxi up to Ortisei/St. Ulrich/Urtijei and the work of constantly checking the websites might be a smart move.
We can have pizza instead of two fancier dinners to offset, is my thinking.
Any suggested companies to book this Verona-Ortisei trip would be wonderful!
Chat GPT is watching these particular trains and the threatened strikes for me, whatever that is worth. LOL
And, actually, we have three travel days, but so far my booking of Bolzano - Rome Termini on September 15 high speed train is not affected. LOL.
ANY thoughts or advice is greatly appreciated!
