Train Strike Question

We are currently set on the Intercity train 552 from Napoli to Roma termini on Sunday March 24.

I understand now that there is a general rail strike from 9pm on March 23rd to 9pm on March 24.

I am trying to decipher what to do. I see that there are two tables (from https://www.trenitalia.com/it/informazioni/treni_garantiti_incasodisciopero.html) on trains that will run during a strike.

One is a list of trains that are running on Weekdays and Holidays ( https://www.trenitalia.com/content/dam/tcom/allegati/trenitalia_2014/informazioni/TABELLA_A_Treni_garantiti_DPLH.pdf).

The other is a list for trains in the event of a strike lasting no more than 24 hours, falling on a public holiday and starting at 9.00 pm on the day before the holiday (https://www.trenitalia.com/content/dam/tcom/allegati/trenitalia_2014/informazioni/TABELLA_B_Treni_garantiti_DPLH.pdf)

Sunday is not a public holiday is it? I'm not sure which table applies. The train we are on is in the first table, and not on the second table. So not sure whether I need to find an alternative or not.

No word from Trentalia despite having booked tickets. Not sue if they will automatically refund me or I should request a refund ahead of time.

What options do I have at this point? A bus? Private van/charter? Any recommendations on a decent bus line (or charter) for my family would be appreciated.

Well, I found the train on that list......so that's a good sign. Checking (as I was unsure) other schedules, Festivi MEANS Sundays (and holidays) so that day is a Sunday, but not a holiday (making you pick the first list and not the second). I saw that the holiday schedule goes WAY down, so I read that as an actual holiday, since "festivi" is actually on BOTH those list titles.

But if I am wrong, someone tell me! haha

(edited: I was contradicting myself meaning to say "festivi" but said "feriali" haha)

A lot of times strikes are announced but don’t happen. There is no way of knowing in advance. There is Flixbus that you can take from Naples to Rome. You can Google that. You would reserve the bus ticket just like you would a flight. You can choose your seats. There are luggage restrictions that you would need to look at as well. I hope this helps.

I'm interested in this thread as my family has a train from Rome to Naples on the morning March 24, which appears like it will be affected.

We then were planning on going on to Sorrento via the Circumvesuviana, but I can't tell if that's affected (I'm assuming yes).

As a backup, we booked a direct bus from Rome to Sorrento for the afternoon of March 24. Planning to see how the train shakes out in the morning and jump the reserved bus in the afternoon if needed.

Festivi means Sundays and holidays, feriali means weekdays- at least here in Emilia Romagna.

I was borked by a strike once that caused us to miss a concert in Milan along with a non-refundable hotel fee for the overnight. Check the bus schedule is my best advice.
