Hi, We are based in Varenna and planned on taking an early morning train from Varenna to Milan (Regioinale lvs Varenna 8:37 - arrives 9:40 Milan) and then the 10:00 Frecciarossa from Milan to Rome. I now see there is a good possibility for a train strike. Does anyone have any ideas for alternate transpiration from Varenna to Rome? The idea of renting a car for that journey does not sound appealing but we need to be prepared if there is a strike. Would it be smart to leave Varenna on Saturday morning June 2nd to avoid the strike? Need help! Thank you,
Sharon
Trenitalia and RFI strike is for June 8 at 9pm (for 24 hours). http://www.mit.gov.it/mit/site.php?p=scioperi
It appears that the strike that was called for June 1st/2nd is now on June 8th/9th. https://www.ricksteves.com/graffiti/helpline/index.cfm/rurl/topic/103981/trenitalia-strike-june-1--2.html
Thank you for the information and we will just go with it and assume it will not be that weekend!
