Train Stations

Hello
I’m trying to book our train tickets but having trouble.

When I try to book it they show lots of locations. Which one do I choose?

Trying to book Venice to Naples, Naples to Rome.

Also which train company is the better one?

Thank you in advance

Venice= Venezia Santa Lucia
Naples = Napoli Centrale
Rome = Roma Termini, unless your hotel happens to be closer to one of the other smaller stations.

Which is better? Trenitalia is the state railway, bigger, more frequent trains. Italotreno is a newer private operator that runs high speed trains on the same tracks at less frequent intervals. Some people prefer them, and they might have a better price for a particular route on a given day or time.

Use the names of the stations, in Italian.

Where are you booking your tickets? Trenitalia or Italotreno? Or a reseller like RailEurope? Use the actual provider.

The Venice station on the Grand Canal = Venezia Santa Lucia.
The central station in Naples = Napoli Centrale.
The central station in Rome = Roma Termini.
The train from Venice will go into Roma Termini and turn around before it continues to Napoli Centrale because Roma Termini is a dead end station.
The train from Venice will also likely call at Florence = Firenze Santa Maria Novella (Firenze SMN) which is another dead end station where the train will change ends.

On the Trenitalia website, you not only put in the date (day, then month), but also the earliest time you might want to go (it's a 24 hr clock). Otherwise, it takes the earliest time to be whenever you're searching, plus however many hours of time difference there are, so you might think there are only late night trains, when really they run all day and into the evening.
