Train station near Florence Airport?

Hi Merry Lou. There is regular bus service from airport into town; drops at main train station in town. About 6 euros and 15 minute ride. Enjoy your trip!

There is no train station at the Florence airport. As Bob said, take a shuttle bus from the airport to the Firenze S.M.N. train station. According to the hotel Web site, even with luggage you can walk from the station to the hotel in five minutes.

The Santa Maria Novella station (main one) in Florence is very close to the middle of the historic center, even with luggage a 5-10 minute walk should get you there. There's a tourist information office right across the street from the station, they can give you the best directions.

The Hotel Martelli is in a very nice location about 250 meters from il Duomo. You are about 5 blocks from the Florence SMN train station. Very easy to get around in this location. As for transportation to and from the airport, it's either by the Volainbus to the SITA bus station or by Taxi. The Volainbus costs 4.50Euro. The taxi will cost 25-30Euro. The Volainbus will only take you to the SITA bus station which is 6-7 blocks from your hotel. The taxi will take you to your hotel.

One thing that everybody including me forgets is that you cannot cross streets easily in front Santa Maria Novella Station. There is an underpass that gets you underneath all the intersections (that have pedestrian access blocked off) and deposits you where you can easily walk to the rest of the Centro Storico.
