Train station at FCO?

We are flying into Rome and going directly to Padova by train. Does anyone know whether the trains in the airport go only to Rome Termini where we would have to change trains to go Padova, or can we take a train from the airport station directly to Padova? Also, would it make sense to take the high speed train from Rome to Bologna and then save money by changing in Bologna to a slower train for the last leg to Padova?

There is now a train from FCO to Venezia, check the Trenitalia site to see if it stops in Padova.

You would not save much money by switching at Bologna, plus the Bologna train station is huge, multi-leveled, and you may be tired from your flight. I would buy the Freccia tickets when you arrive (plane could be late), and go to Padova.

Zoe - appears that they all go to Termini or Tiburtina and require changing trains to go to Padova. I suppose we could go to Venezia and double back - that might be quicker. Oh well...............!

I picked a date in August as an example and found there is only one train a day listed where you can go directly from FCO to Padova without changing trains somewhere. It leaves at 11:08 and gets to Padova at 15:07. You would have 2 stops in Rome, in Florence and Bologna before getting to Padova.

There are 2 trains from FCO to Venice (with a stop in Padua) with no change required.
At 11:08 and at 15:08.
All others require a change at Roma Termini.
