I went to the website Deutsche Bahn website, i cannot find Murren in the search bar. I alson have seen routes that go through Zurich (which seems a lot longer) and some that go through OST.

You have to use the correct local spelling of the name: Mürren, with the umlaut, and it will pop up. Mürren BLM is the one via Lauterbrunnen cogwheel train up the mountain, and short local train (the BLM) to one end of Mürren. The other option Mürren Schilthornbahn which is bus from Lauterbrunnen to Stechelberg, and up the mountain by the gondola, via Gimmlewald.

Ok I will try that. So the train goes Venice, OST, Lauterbrunnen to BLM, correct?

Murren is not the correct spelling, though many people use it when posting on this website.

On the DB website you can enter Mürren, and it will offer "Mürren BLM". Or, if you don't know how to get a ü on your computer you can copy-paste or use the approved alternative spelling "Muerren", which also works on the DB website.

In German Uu and Üü are two totally different letters and should not be mixed up.

Edit: Not sure where you mean by "OST", unless you mean "Interlaken Ost".

BLM is the name of the railway company, not a place (=Bergbahn Lauterbrunnen–Mürren). "Mürren BLM" means the BLM station, to distinguish it from the cable-car station. At Lauterbrunnen there is also a station "Lauterbrunnen BLM", the other end of the railway.

Well, not so easy. Looks like it takes either 6-7 changes to get all the way there. Milano Centrale being one place to change either of two routes.

Yes, but the last 3 changes are just for getting to Mürren, no matter where you come from, and they are all co-ordinated.
The trains are:

  • Venice (Venezia Santa Lucia) to Milan (Milano Centrale)
  • Milan to Spiez (sometimes an extra change is needed in Domodossola or Brig)
  • Spiez to Interlaken Ost
  • Interlaken Ost to Lauterbrunnen
  • Cross road to Lauterbrunnen BLM, and cable car to Grütschalp
  • Train Grütschalp to Mürren BLM

Which website?

  • The DB website you mentioned above is German Railways. They only sell tickets within, to or from Germany.
  • Italian Railways ( http://www.trenitalia.com/tcom-en ) will equally only sell you a ticket within, to or from Italy. Their site only lists trains within, to or from Italy, so it will not know of Interlaken or Mürren. They can sell you a ticket from Venice to wherever you first change trains in Switzerland (Domodossola, Brig or Spiez).
  • The Swiss Railways website ( https://www.sbb.ch/en ) is slightly better and will show trains and sell you tickets all the way from Venice to Mürren. But it does not always have the cheapest fares offered on Trenitalia.

Therefore use the following strategy:
1) Work out which trains you are getting (on DB or SBB)
2) Look up Venice to Mürren on SBB and get a price
3) Look up Venice to (first-station you change at in Switzerland) on Trenitalia, and from there to Mürren on SBB
And compare the two options.
Don't forget, Trenitalia will quote prices in Euro (€), SBB will quote in Swiss Franks (CHF), so you have to convert.
But, if you are buying a Swiss Pass for all your travels in Switzerland, that starts at Domodossola, whether you get off the train there or not. So you only need to buy a ticket on Trenitalia to Domodossola.

Easy ☺

You can also buy tickets at http://www.trenitalia.com/tcom-en as far as Spiez, since there are Italian/Swiss EC trains that go from Milano Centrale to there. You can also use www.trainline.eu to buy at the same price.
Spiez is just 30 minutes from Interlaken Ost, and another 25 minutes to Muerren.

If you can buy and advance nonrefundable train specific ticket, you can get a very good price from Venice to Spiez. It is like an airline ticket, make it or else. You can buy a ticket in advance for the Spiez to Muerren leg. It is good for any trains that day, ie not train specific. Price is always the same. Either a print at home ticket, or an electronic ticket downloaded to your smart phone, or stop in an buy a ticket at Spiez station. These you have to go through www.sbb.ch/en. Agencies like Trainline don't handle Swiss tickets.
