Which train route would be better to take? What is the scenery like?
Venice to Milan to Monterossa
Or
Venice to Florence to Pisa to Monterossa

I haven't taken either but have been through the areas. It would probably be a wash either way scenery wise, just slightly different on either route.
On the Milano route, you'll only change trains once in Milano Centrale. On the florence route you'll change trains twice. although some folks don't like the Milan train station.
going to Milano, you'll pass through Genova and then down the coast to Monterosso.
