I am going from Milan MXP to Menaggio in July by train via Saronno, Como, and C10 bus. I was looking on Trenord website and saw this notice: http://www.trenord.it/it/media-news/avvisi/0412012.aspx Will this affect my route? I don't quite understand the translation

caroline, I've read the TreNord rail notice several times in both Italian and English, but still not exactly sure whether or not the rail work will affect your trip? Under the circumstances, you could consider an alternative route. Travel from MXP to Milano Centrale via train or Malpensa Shuttle, and then by Regionale train to Varenna (1H:03M). DON'T forget to validate! Walk down the hill and board the Ferry and you'll be in Menaggio in about 15 minutes. That's the method I'd use on that particular route.
