Train ride from Rome to La Spezia

We're trying to decide whether to take this train ride during the day (if the scenery is great) or overnight (to save time by sleeping while we travel). Any suggestions? What is the scenery like from Rome to La Spezia by train? Thank you.

Just a thought.... The overnight trains from Roma to La Spezia do not have couchettes, so you would probably not get much decent sleep. Also, if memory serves, there would be several changes you would need to make.
