We'll (2 people) be traveling in April. Venice-Florence-Cinque Terra-Siena-Orvieto-Rome. Would you recommend reservations ahead of time? How far in advence?

I spent a good portion of last April in Italy and didn't have reservations and was just fine. A couple trains were quite full around Easter however. I would say if its important you have a seat, you may consider it for that weekend but I like to not be tied to a particular train.
