Train Planning

We will be traveling in November and I am trying to figure travel between locations. I use Rome2Rio for ideas, but I can’t actually see current schedules (though I understand they may change) on trenitalia website. For example, I want Varenna to Siena. One place I read you need a bus from Florence, others I see there is a train. I can’t find actual schedules to get an idea. What is the best planning tool to help with timing my trip? Is there a site for bus travel in Tuscany?

I keep asking questions, y’all have been so much help. I do thank you for all that.

Varenna-Esino is the name of the station for Varenna.

Use Trenitalia for next week, same day of the week,

Varenna-Esino to Milano Centrale.

Milano Centrale to Firenze SMN (Santa Maria Novella, a church next door).

Train Firenze SMN to Siena. Or bus, your choice.

Just to add to Nigel's good info, you do not "need" a bus from Florence. You certainly can arrive by train; the station is BELOW the city and you can take escalators up. Rapido express buses from Florence do drop at the top of the hill, closer to the historic center. Here are a couple threads on the subject from 7-8 months ago:

Too early for November schedule-will be posted in June

You must use the Italian station names

You can search for routes and prices now by picking a same day of week in any month up til June
Schedule won’t change much if at all
