train: Napoli to Paestum / Paestum to Maratea?

My wife and I want to take train to Paestum, spend a night, get on another train to Cosenza. Any recommendations on how to do this? Which are best trains? Do both tickets have to be purchased in Napoli?

I would purchase tickets in Bapoli or online. The Paestum train station is unstaffed and there is one kiosk at the station. Info as of July 2016.
