Train Naples to Rome...many stations, which is the one?

We will be traveling from Sorrento to Rome during our vacation in Italy and I'm trying to book a reservation on the trenitalia train website. But for both Naples & Rome, there are many stations listed. I've read we take the Circumvesuviana train from Sorrento to Naples & then go either upstairs or downstairs to catch the Trenitalia train from Naples to Rome. but when I look at the Trenitalia site, there are several naples stations ("Napoli Tutte Le Stazioni", "Napoli Centrale", and "Napoli Gerabaldi"...among many others).
On the Circumvesuviana site, it lists both a "Napoli Centro Direzionale" and a "Napoli Gerabaldi Stazione Centrale F.S." I am not able to figure out which station is the right one, help! Same with arrival stations in Rome. Which Rome stop is considered the Rome Central Station? "Roma Termini" or "Roma Tutte Le Stazioni"? Or another one? Thanks for help from those of you who've done this before!!

You want Napoli Centrale - Central station in Napoli. The others are suburb stops. Tuttle Le Stazioni means ALL stations. No point in buy advance tickets for the Circum... since it is open seating and near sells out. And you go upstairs to the main station. Rome Termini is the main station.

TJ, As Frank mentioned, you'll be travelling via Circumvesuviana from Sorrento to Napoli Centrale, and from there to Roma Termini. Given your location, you might find it helpful to take a short drive up to Edmonds one day and pick-up some rail information at Europe Through The Back Door. That would also give you an opportunity to speak with Rick's travel experts, to "fine tune" your travel arrangements. The Rail Department will be able to answer all your questions. Happy travels!

Napoli P. Garibald in an underground station connected to Napoli Centrale! Circumvesuviana trains stop there.

Unanimous, you want Napoli Centrale. The station is located in :Piazza Garibaldi (don't let this confuse you). The Circumvesuviana runs frequently, and the trip from Napoli to Roma is less than two hours on the fast trains.
