Train/Museum Tickets for Child

Hi all, I booked my trip to Rome for April, 2014 and will be going with my 11 year old daughter. In researching both train and museum tickets, i am finding myself confused on prices for children. For example: - On trenitalia, looking at trains (going to day trip to Orvieto). It seems as thought children ride free... but hard to tell. Is this true? - I will be booking the Underground tour for the Coloseum, wondering if children get entrance to coloseo/forum/palatine hill free? - Roma Pass: same questions? I am prepared to buy tickets for the both of us, but if it isn't required, all the better :-). Any advice on this? Thanks, Glenn

Entry to the colosseum combo is free but you'll still need to pay for the tour for your daughter. This is true for the state run museums in Rome. At the Vatican museums shell get a discounted price. Donna

You will need to buy tickets for your daughter. For Regionale trains from Rome to Orvieto the Trenitalia site shows an adult 2nd class fare of €7.50 and a child 2nd class fare of €3.75. On Regionale trains the ages for a child's fare are 4-12. On national trains the ages are 4-14.
