This will be our 3rd journey to Italy. After 2 days rest in Varenna, we will be traveling by train on a Saturday at the end of September to Parma for a 2 nights stay. I have looked into a lunch time excursion to either Piacenza or Cremona on our way to Parma. Other suggestions with worthy sights, or do you recommend we head directly to Parma? We are looking forard to opportunities to enjoy live music and the artistry of the mideaval cathedrals, chapels and baptisteries.
Thank you for this advice. That is exactly what we will do. Best wishes for fine travel.
Piacenza is nice but not particularly interesting, Cremona has some interesting things but lies outside of main railway lines. In a two days window Piacenza is not worth the stop and Cremona needs too many regional trains.
